Labels are typed straight into the table, where they will appear on the visual. The + at the top right adds an option, the one at the bottom left adds a criterion, and × deletes the row or column along with its values. In the cells: y for a tick, n for a cross, or any text (a price, a lead time). You can also paste from Excel or Google Sheets, and the table grows to fit what you paste.
What is it for?
A comparison table is what breaks a discussion that keeps going in circles. Choosing between three vendors, weighing up two tools, presenting a recommendation to a committee. As soon as several options compete on several criteria, laying it out visually does half the persuading for you.
How to use it
- Type your options across the top of the table, one per column, and your criteria down the left, one per row. The + at the top right adds a column, the one at the bottom left adds a row.
- Fill in the cells: y for a tick, n for a cross, or free text. If your data already sits in a spreadsheet, paste it straight in and the table grows to fit.
- Pick the font, the text colour and the colour scheme.
- Optionally highlight the column you recommend, then download as PNG, JPG, SVG or PDF.
FAQ
How do I delete a criterion without losing the rest?
The × at the end of the row. It takes the criterion and that row's values with it, nothing shifts up a place. Same for the × under an option label, which deletes the whole column. Renaming a criterion touches no values at all.
Is long text cut off?
No. The column widens and the row grows to fit the whole text. Nothing gets replaced by an ellipsis. Very long text is still hard to read inside a table cell, but that's the limit of the format, not of the tool.
Can I change the font and the text colour?
Yes, in the Text block. The fonts on offer are the ones already installed on computers and phones: nothing is downloaded, so the visual looks the same everywhere. If your chosen colour gets too pale against the background, a warning says so before you export. The header band keeps its own colours, otherwise a custom text colour would become unreadable on it.
How many options and criteria?
Up to 6 option columns and 14 criteria. Beyond that the table becomes unreadable once projected, so split it into two visuals.
Can I write something other than yes / no?
Yes, any text shows as-is: a price, a lead time, a score. Only y, yes, n, no and their French equivalents turn into icons.
Can I start from an existing spreadsheet?
Yes. Select your range in Excel or Google Sheets, copy it, click the first cell of the grid and paste, everything fills at once.
Can I come back to my table later?
Yes. What you type is kept automatically in your browser, and the Save button lets you keep several tables and return to them. Ctrl+Z undoes the last action, including a paste from Excel.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. The image is generated by your browser, on your device, and your saved tables never leave this browser.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes, with a "Share" button that sends the image straight to your messages. Typing a table is still far more comfortable on a computer.
